Hope for Families

Hope for Families is a support group for those who know the feeling of desperation concerning the drug addiction of a family member.  We have traveled this path too, and found help, acceptance, hope and encouragement.  At Hope for Families you are no longer alone, but with people who have lived through similar trials and understand as few others could.  Some of us continue to watch a loved-one’s struggle with addiction.

When we meet, we support each other by sharing our experiences, failures, victories, strength and hope.  Our prayer is that in this group you will find assurance that no situation is too grim, and no unhappiness is too great to be overcome.  There IS hope!

For more information, go to the Hope for Families website here.

Beach Weekend April 20th-22nd

Registration for the beach weekend is now closed.

Check-in will be between 4 & 6 p.m. on Friday at the Pacific View Lodge.

Our Speaker:

Susan Garlinger is a native Ohioan, the youngest of four kids in a Christian family. She came to Oregon for two years almost twenty six years ago. She and her husband met while they were both students at Multnomah Biblical Seminary. Susan has been at Salem Alliance Church for over twenty years, most of them on staff. She and Nick have three kids: A sixth grade daughter and identical twin fourth grade boys. Susan continues to learn as she goes, just how much of a process “life with God” really is. Through 34 years, two months, and eight days as a single woman . . . through seven years of infertility . . . . and now while parenting two children very significantly impacted by autism . . . . God has grown her in ways she never aspired to grow. Also during the less dramatic seasons of life, she’s found that God has wanted her to stay the course and grow according to His plans for her. There’s really no way to grow apart from God. Susan is excited to spend the weekend exploring this topic of how to live “Life with God”!

Crazy Love

Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo? Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions? God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself. Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts—it's falling in love with God. And once you encounter His love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same. Because when you're wildly in love with someone, it changes everything.

10 week DVD-based course by Francis Chan, facilitated by Christy Boda

Cost is $10.  For more information or to register, click here.

Love Busters

According to relationship expert and bestselling author Dr. Willard F. Harley, Jr., after couples get married, they often develop habits that slowly undermine the love they have for each other. If tolerated, these Love Busters--selfish demands, disrespectful judgments, angry outbursts, dishonesty, annoying habits, and independent behavior--will destroy a couple's love for each other. The solution, however, isn't merely to avoid these negative behaviors and attitudes. Rather, it's to cultivate Love Builders--positive habits that will strengthen the relationship.

A 6 week book study facilitated by Matt and Val Stiller, designed for couples.

Cost is $15.  For more information or to register, click here.

Armor of God

All day, every day, an invisible war rages around you — unseen, unheard, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreak havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, your relationships, your resilience, your dreams, your destiny. But his battle plan depends on catching you unaware and unarmed. If you're tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you. The Enemy always fails miserably when he meets a woman dressed for the occasion. The Armor of God, more than merely a biblical description of the believer's inventory, is an action plan for putting it on and developing a personalized strategy to secure victory.

Seven week DVD-based study by Priscilla Shirer, facilitated by Cheryl Smith

Cost is $20.  For more information or to register for the daytime study, click here.
